Earth Day Freebies, 2011
Are you looking for some low-cost ways to celebrate Earth Day 2011? You can clean out your house, and help save yourself some cash at the same time with this guide to Earth Day 2011 events, freebies, and deals.
Earth Day events and freebies for 2011
Caribou Coffee --Visit your local Caribou Coffee location and bring a reusable cup on Earth Day (April 22, 2011) and you’ll get a free cup of coffee.
CVS -- Through Saturday, April 23rd, CVS shoppers can buy a green bag tag for just 99 cents, then receive 99 cents back in Extra Bucks to use on a future purchase. When you carry the CVS bag tag and your reusable bags into any CVS location, you'll accumulate free cash to use on additional purchases throughout the store, so this is a great opportunity to start cashing in.
Disney Store -- Bring in 5 plastic bags to recycle on April 22nd, Earth Day itself, and the Disney Store will swap them for a free reusable bag while supplies last.
Lowe's -- Lowe's stores throughout the U.S. will be giving away a million free tree seedlings on Saturday, April 23rd. You can also bring in old plastic bags, rechargeable batteries, old cell phones, CFLs, and even plastic plant pots to recycle when you come in to score your free tree.
MAC -- Return any six empty MAC containers to a MAC counter or through MacCosmetics.com for a free lipstick of your choice. (Click on the "Giving Back" link for more information. This promotion is ongoing.)
Office Depot-- Bring 10 used pens, markers or mechanical pencils to Office Depot anytime through Saturday, and get a coupon for 50 percent off a new Sharpie, Expo or PaperMate product. (The used writing instruments will be recycled into new office products such as trash cans and desk organizers.)
Old Navy -- Beginning April 22nd and running through May 21, you can bring in your old, scuzzy flip-flops to any Old Navy location in San Antonio or the U.S. and contribute them to be recycled into new outdoor park equipment. Old Navy traditionally runs its $1 Flip-Flop sale sometime in May, so watch this space to learn exactly when you should trade in your flip-flops for the best savings.

Starbucks -- Bring in your reusable mug or cup into any company-owned Starbucks store on April 22nd, and you can get it filled with brewed coffee or tea for free. And you can do this all day long if you want, depending on the state of your caffeine addiction. Don't have a reusable mug? Starbucks will sell you one of theirs for 20% off on April 22nd too
